After long weeks of hard work and experimentation in his laboratory nestling in Sormiou, near the Calanques, Sacha Copigneaux decided to create a unique ice cream evoking the sunny flavours of the south.
His orange blossom ice cream, topped with roasted pistachio slivers and a salted pistachio coulis, won over the jury at the Gelato Festival World Masters, the most prestigious ice cream tournament in the world!
The Gelato Festival World Masters, the international tournament for the best ice cream, took place in Rimini, Italy, the birthplace of the art of ice cream, on 21 January 2024.
Each competitor was tasked with designing and presenting a creation of his or her choice on site, which was then judged by a panel of judges on a number of criteria, including taste, texture, creativity and presentation.
The top three were then selected for the European and global finals.
A golden opportunity for our Marseillais to get noticed!
Second place went to Switzerland’s Noah Bühler with his “Dalla natura per la Natura gourmande” ice cream with milk flower, figs infused with black tea and toasted walnuts.
Another participant from Forcalquier in Provence came third with her ricotta ice cream with pistachios and roasted almonds, enhanced by a Corsican clementine jelly and orange zest.
The three winners, including two from Provence, are in the running for the semi-finals scheduled for 2025.
